Born Brave

At Five Senses, we believe coffee can do more than bring people together. It can create meaningful change.

Born Brave is a partnership between Five Senses Coffee and Mercy Health Foundation, bringing together the coffee community to support families of premature and sick newborns while helping fund important neonatal research. Through a dedicated coffee blend, a new national café campaign and support for the Babyccino Research Project, we're using coffee as a force for positive impact.

Together, we're helping support brave babies, brave families and the research working to improve outcomes for future generations.

The Born Brave Blend

IPP BLEND

The Born Brave Blend is a simple way to enjoy great coffee while supporting an important cause.

Created in partnership with Mercy Health Foundation, this limited edition blend helps raise funds for the Born Brave initiative, with $10 from every kilo sold donated directly to support families of premature and sick newborns.

Inside the bag is a coffee profile that Five Senses customers know and love. Rich, approachable and easy to enjoy, it delivers a balanced cup with chocolate flavours and a heavy body. Whether you're brewing at home, in the office or serving it in your café, every purchase helps make a meaningful difference.

Because sometimes a simple cup of coffee can have a much bigger impact than you realise.

The Born Brave Café Campaign

This November, we're excited to launch the very first Born Brave Café Campaign.

Taking place during Prematurity Awareness Month, the campaign will bring together cafés across Australia to raise funds and awareness for families of premature and sick newborns. Participating cafés will be able to support the initiative through a range of fundraising activities, helping turn everyday coffee moments into meaningful impact.

While this year's campaign is the beginning, our hope is that Born Brave becomes something much bigger. By working alongside cafés, coffee drinkers and industry partners, we aim to build a community-driven initiative that grows its impact year after year.

The specialty coffee industry has always been about people and connection. Through the Born Brave Café Campaign, we're inviting cafés across Australia to be part of something that supports some of the bravest people in our community – premature babies, sick newborns and their families.

More details on how cafés can get involved will be announced closer to November.

The Babyccino Research Project

One of the most exciting aspects of the Born Brave initiative is the Babyccino Research Project.

For decades, caffeine has been used in neonatal care to help premature babies breathe by stimulating their developing respiratory systems. Researchers are now exploring whether carefully measured caffeine treatment may provide even greater benefits, helping improve health outcomes for babies born too soon.

It's a remarkable connection between coffee and neonatal care. While caffeine helps many of us start our day, researchers are investigating how the same compound may help give premature babies the strongest possible start to life.

By supporting Born Brave, you're helping contribute to research that has the potential to improve outcomes for babies and families for generations to come.

How You Can Help

Whether you purchase a bag of Born Brave Blend, support a participating café during the campaign or simply help spread the word, every contribution matters.

Together, we can celebrate the positive impact of coffee while supporting brave babies, brave families and the research helping shape a brighter future.

Delicious coffee with positive impact? Cheers to that!
