Tucked away off Bartley Terrace in West Lakes Shores lies a remarkable bakery café filled with passionate, friendly staff who really go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
In the year and a half that they’ve been open, the Grain & Bean has developed a hardcore following for their amazing pasties (their pumpkin and ginger is out of control!), country style pies, freshly baked breads and exquisite pastries and cakes, all made fresh on site by passionate super baker Tim Zimmermann.
I’ll happily cross town for a well done bakery, but a well done bakery with a shiny Synesso sitting at the front, adorned by a Robur E and using Five Senses coffee and I’ll happily move mountains to get to it!
The Grain & Bean’s coffee programme is led by their son Brent, who has spent the last 10 years engrossed in hospitality and who is completely obsessed by coffee. It’s his commitment to the bean which ensures you an amazing coffee to go with your vanilla slice, every time.
They have stepped up their coffee programme above and beyond your usual Adelaide café by offering a rolling selection of single origin coffee’s alongside their normal house blend. All coffees are served with a complimentary shortbread on the side (this place is filled with nice little touches!) and a giant smile.
The Grain & Bean is a very well executed example of a passionate group of people keeping things simple and doing it well, very well for that matter.
