Across the road from Central station on Elizabeth St, you will find a welcoming little hole in the wall aptly named, ‘Two Skinny Pickles’. From this cosy space, owners Dan and Jerome produce a truly impressive amount of quality food, coffee and cold drinks – and they’ll serve it up fast enough for you to catch your next train.
Two Skinny Pickles is named after the fondness for pickles and the frames of the owners, Daniel Thaine and Jerome Jalibat, who have amassed decades of hospitality experience between them, both internationally and across Australia. They finally crossed paths while working at Nomad in Surry Hills where they discovered their shared passion for all things delicious.
The goal of the menu was for everything to be fresh, hand-made and healthy.
The menu is heavily influenced by Jerome’s French background, featuring Pan Bagnat, Croque Monsieur and organic chocolatine pastries. These are served alongside ‘grab and go’ granola, fruit cups and the ‘Buddha Bowl’ which features split pea hummus, pickles, soft boiled egg, mushrooms, avocado and sautéed kale. Alongside these crowd favourites you can find a regularly changing lineup of sandwiches, salads and house-made treats.
Perhaps even more impressive than the food menu is the bountiful drinks menu.
Espresso-based coffee is crafted on an elegant 3 group Synesso MVP Hydra with your choice of the chocolatey, delicious Crompton Road blend or a rotating selection of single origins. If you are feeling more like a cold drink, then you are spoiled for choice. Straight from the tap, you can have a Nitro cold brew of the single origin of the week, or your choice of two kombuchas. There are also freshly made juices and five different smoothies which are as healthy as they are delicious.
Two Skinny Pickles is a hole in the wall that fills a hole in the market. If you’re at Central Station or on your way to work, make Two Skinny Pickles part of your morning routine.
