Dynamic duo, Paul and Vanessa Parrella, have opened their highly anticipated second venue in the lucky suburb of Watsonia. Long-time locals must surely be doing double takes on their routine strolls around the neighbourhood as what was once an unassuming fruit and veg shop has been transformed into a dreamy café oasis known as The A Team Kitchen.
Having successfully operated the iconic café, Miss Marie, in the neighbouring northern suburb of Rosanna for over six years, the desire to open a new space and give locals something a bit different eventually kicked the Parrellas’ dreams into overdrive.
The team enlisted the help of award-winning design gurus, Biasol, to bring the concept to life via a rich tapestry of warm French Vanilla tones, soft terracotta-like tiles and suspended timber shelving with subtle touches of brass.
Newcomers to the space can regularly be observed staring at the ceiling and excitedly pointing out the clever design touches displayed there.
These elements extend through to the custom Synesso MVP Hydra which sits proudly on the bench.
This elegant beast quietly produces shot after perfect shot of the Dark Horse blend, all while pressure profiling an array of rotating single origin coffees – a range which most recently included the Tiga Raja Simalungun from Sumatra: Rich molasses, orange and milk chocolate for days.
The A Team Kitchen produces a variety of classic breakfast and lunch fare which is hearty, beautifully presented and, ultimately, utterly scrummy. House made granola with fruit crisps and Coyo, followed by avocado and mint smash with haloumi on pumpkin loaf is the perfect way to start any day in my book.
