Located just a short walk from South Yarra train station and named after the street it is located on, Darling is serving up delicious coffee by yours truly (Crompton Road Blend and a selection of single origin and filter beans) and some beautifully plated seasonal brunch dishes.
Even on a rainy autumn day, the space is filled with light which streams in from the floor-to-ceiling windows creating a perfectly cosy vibe which makes you feel relaxed, even on the busiest of mornings. The refined interior design boasts a beautiful white marble bar and a shiny Synesso machine complete with a personalised front panel, warm timber table tops and pretty, brass accents.
Welcoming you as you enter is their trade mark ‘OX’ (hug and kiss) neon and all this is paired with the nostalgic sounds of early 2000’s RnB classics playing in the background.
Their most popular breakfast dishes come with more than a ‘spoonful of sugar’ – but who’s complaining? Here’s a little foretaste: Peanut butter waffles with candied orange, strawberries, peanut butter crumb, a few maple bacon bits and, to finish it off, the chefs top everything with lashings of mascarpone and fluffy Persian fairy floss. Or you could try sticky date pancakes with butterscotch ice cream, seasonal fruits, palm sugar caramel and malted crumble. Stop it!
If you find yourself having ‘breakfast regret’, the lovely staff have you covered with their signature Edison lightbulb smoothies; you know, for that post-sugar high heath kick.
P.S. We couldn’t leave Darling without taking a little piece home with us – their pin collection is too damn cute to pass up!
