Moby is a feel good kind of place. It leaves you with vibes similar to those you get from spending time with a generous friend, one who also happens to be very stylish. It’s the personal touches that make it, from being handed your take away brew, to the meticulously built dishes and textured walls warmed by the abundant natural light. You want to hang out there, all the time.
Thanks to Christina Higgins and Stephen Svenson, childhood friends and Moby’s co-authors, even indulging feels good here. The menu oozes creativity, serving decadent dishes built from quality ingredients that both our bodies and taste buds love. You wouldn’t expect anything less given the owners’ complementary and rich culinary journeys thus far; Christina with Ottolenghi’s London team, and Steve as head chef at stalwart Melbourne cafes Barry and Pillar of Salt.
Working closely with We Are Huntly (design) and Bear Projects (build), this transformed corner site captures attention from afar, then draws you right into the details.
The space is filled with bold, warm colours and leads up to a spacious rooftop terrace perched above High Street. This hidden oasis is a neat spot to multitask while consuming delicious things and soaking in some sunshine.
A Synesso MVP Hydra sits front and centre, with wonderful pilots pouring moreish cups of the Moby Blend. Currently featuring coffee from Alice Estate, Brazil and Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, expect beautifully balanced caramel and subtle floral notes. Yes, it’s scrumptious. A fresh pot of batch brew will likely contain one of the Limited Release offerings, a brilliant way to sip on some more exquisite coffees. Just ask what’s brewing.
Go, hang out!
