Dan Leppard has been a main-stay in the specialty coffee industry for some time now, with his venue on High Street having been opened for 4 years now. Throughout those years the coffee has been the sole focus, but breakfast has always been on the peripheral for Dan. It’s a running joke of sorts among staff and locals.
“Dan, when’s the breakfast menu launch?”
“2 months.” He’d reply. Always two months.
While he might cop a bit of flack, it was well worth the wait. Serving seasonal menus every weekend, while sticking to the casual/fresh bites and arguably the best coffee line-up Fremantle has to offer through the week.
The house-made beans with ham hock was just what I needed on that particular winters morning, while the fresh granola bowl is the most generous and balanced variant I’ve found in Perth. Dan is always making slight changes to the menu to squeeze that extra 1% out of his offering, he has really worn his heart on his sleeve with this menu.
The coffee program is the most comprehensive and high quality line-up I’ve seen in a while! Offering different custom blends for both milk and black drinkers, as well as the Gitwe Hill Single Origin on espresso. There was also Primaveral from Colombia on batch and cold-brew.
Not many (if any!) cafes are adapting like Hush Specialty Coffee is. Visit now, and visit in the summer. The excellence will be consistent, but the menu’s ever-fresh!
