Aptly named after Marrickville’s postcode, Café 2204 is here to #represent! Offering great coffee and fusion food with a chilled Sydney inner-west vibe, 2204 is a super cool place to visit.
2204 has been part of the Five Senses’ family for the past five years. Jay and Chloe started their first café in Gladesville back in 2008. Six years later, they bought 2204 and made the move to the beautiful and diverse Marrickville.
Represent? They sure do! Chloe and Jay have really settled well into the area.
They love the local feel of the café and enjoy being part of the community. Marrickville has always been dominated by immigrants. The early settlers were Europeans, but these days it’s a diverse, multicultural community who really get behind local businesses. So it’s no surprise at all that most of the daily clientele at 2204 are locals.
The food is simply fabulous! Chloe is the mastermind in the kitchen and her secret is a glorious Korean/Western fusion.
When I asked Jay to name his favourite dish, he simply couldn’t pick just one – always a good sign! If pushed, his top choice would be The Health Hazzard; poached eggs, smashed avocado, halloumi, roasted tomatoes, quinoa and pesto on sourdough. Yum! The second would be the Baked Eggs with Kimchi; a pot of tomato, zucchini, bean sprouts, mixed grains and mint, all covered with free range baked eggs, kimchi and a side of tortillas. Think Korean shakshuka!
It’s always a pleasure to visit this happy place. Brendan rocks the Synesso 3 group with style and an appropriate amount of swagger, serving up some delicious Crompton Road. Do pop in and say hello, you won’t be disappointed.
