Walking on the scenic northern beaches, you can’t miss this eye-catching venue. Situated in Cabbage Tree bay, nestled between the ever-popular Manly and Shelly beaches is this gem, The Bower. Designed by the award-winning Lucy Humphreys and Porter & Maple, think chic-city style with elements of grey, exposed wires and copper piping.

The Bower restaurant is a family business, owned and operated by husband and wife, Hartmut and Lidia Schacker, and their team. Hartmut has taken his ten years of hospitality experience and turned The Bower into the place to be in Sydney’s North.

With their Japanese-infused seafood menu and top notch, seasonal breakfast options, Hartmut is proud to source all his produce locally and check that it’s organic where possible.

The Salmon Bowl is a must try – filled with slices of lightly cured Tasmanian salmon, sushi rice, shiso, nori, enoki mushrooms, pickled cucumber and just a dash of heat from the wasabi avocado. Gone are the days of boring breakfasts, the Bircher Muesli at Bower is something to behold with organic yoghurt, grated apple, poached rhubarb, seasonal fruits and (the talent of the dish) apple sorbet. The Bower will be opening for dinner very shortly which is a great news, as you can then go in after work for a fantastic feed and knock back some locally produced beer; they have Nomad Brewing on tap, Balter XPA tinnies and 4 Pines Pale Ale.

Hartmut says that being at The Bower is like ‘Living in an aquarium’ – and he is not wrong.

You can jump straight into the water from the entrance after a heart pumping Ardi espresso with those delicious stewed stone fruit and dark choc flavours or, if you’re after something different, try their amazing fresh OJ or fresh coconut.

They say once you go north over the bridge, you never go back; now I can see why, as The Bower is an amazingly designed venue with a magnificent fresh, seasonal menu to boot.
