After a hiatus of a couple of years, we’re super excited to be heading back to the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) from 30th March – 1st April. We’ve organised a great space which will allow us to set up a long espresso and brew bar showcasing some amazing coffees through the latest equipment from our partners at Synesso, Marco, Acaia and Baratza. Our Director of Coffee, Jacob Ibarra, has put together a phenomenal line up of treats for us – some exciting, rare varieties from Colombia, a project close to our hearts out of Burundi and a gaggle of Geishas – plus stacks more. The bar will be serving a rotating range of espresso and batch brew coffees, and we’ve dedicated a stretch to a slower, tasting bar where we’ll be dishing up focused explorations of different coffees.
Understanding that quality coffee is reliant on quality equipment which delivers consistently, we’re proud to be the exclusive Australian importer for Synesso Espresso machines.
These espresso machines will be taking pride of place on our espresso bar – keep an eye out for some amazing modification work! Alongside the Synessos, on the brew bar we’ll be putting a range of Marco equipment through its paces including the sleek SP9. Perfect for the hands-free, high quality, small batch brewing needed to serve tasting flights, we reckon these SP9s hit the sweet spot for Australian filter coffee offerings – theatrical, low labour and small volume.
We’ll also be launching the new Marco MIX unit which offers the latest energy efficient boiler technology out of this progressive company.
With a slim line stainless font, the MIX unit will – from a single 3ltr boiler – offer the barista an opportunity to dispense three different volumes of water, each at its own temperature and all mixed on the fly! The flexibility is pretty amazing and we’re looking forward to having a good play on it with all the MICE folks.
Excitingly, some of the crew from both Marco and Synesso will also be visiting MICE, so if you’ve ever been curious about the equipment these companies create, definitely come down to check them out in action, have a play yourself and meet some of the people behind these awesome machines.
Taking place from 30th March – 1st April out at the Melbourne Showgrounds, MICE is the biggest specialty coffee trade show in the region.
Along with hosting a huge swag of great coffee people, MICE will also be the site for the Australian Barista and Brewers Championships along with other competition showdowns. We’re proud to be supporting a number of passionate, talented baristas in the championships including regional champions. Make sure you come down to grab a coffee, say hi and cheer on the competitors!
Look forward to seeing you there.
