Tartine Café is nestled nicely in its very own little nook at the St George’s Terrace entrance to Trinity Arcade. Owner Niall obviously had a vision for his café, and has managed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The creative re-vamp just goes to show that good planning and experience can transform any space, however unprepossessing, into something very special.

It really is a great location with a huge amount of passing traffic. I’m absolutely positive that if the baristas keep sending out coffees as good as they have been, Tartine will develop a local following in no time. They managed to fit a small kitchen out the back where they bake fresh pastries daily and prepare their lunch sandwiches on some seriously good sourdough baguettes. No detail has been left to chance and everything from the muffins to the gluten-free cookies have all been sourced with the highest quality in mind. They even use real Belgium chocolate in every hot chocolate and mocha, making these drinks a real gourmet experience.

I’m not sure how Niall managed to find his staff, but I must mention how impressed I was with the team behind this new café. Andrew, Jo, Bianca, Jane and, of course, Niall are all serious when it comes to quality. As far as coffee goes, you can rest assured that they will serve the best every time. They are full of enthusiasm and excitement, possibly due to the amount of coffee they taste in the morning, making sure the shots are dialled in just right. But also because of their desire to provide great service in a great location. All they want to do is make you happy, so if you’re in the area you really should stop in and say hello. You’ll be glad that you did.
